Meijer: New mPerks Program = $5 off $5 Coupon!

by cindy on August 24, 2010

Okay, I just found out about a great new Meijer program called mPerks. Looks like Meijer will now be doing digital coupons. WhooHoo!  The only catch is you have to sign-up for text messaging in order to use the program. I went ahead and signed up for the program. They are offering a $5 off $5 purchase or more valid through 8-28-10 and a few other great coupons are also available. So for me it is worth a try.

mPerks How it Works:

  • Sign up with your mobile phone number
  • Clip all the offers you want.
  • Punch in your mobile phone number at checkout and instantly redeem your savings.

For more information and to sign up go here.

Note: You can also check out the mPerks Frequently Asked Questions page here.

This stinks especially for people like me who are old school and dont have a cell phone. Does this mean they are doing away with Meijer Mealbox? If so their deals are not going to be as enjoyable when we can only do it once.

Are they still honoring the mealbox coupons that we’ve printed? And them can you use the $5 coupon with those as well, if you know?

I have to say that I am initially not too happy with this one. I do not have texting included in my cell phone package. Help us understand how this is better than MMealbox?? Do you know if it is replacing MMB? I sent them an email. I’ll let you know if I get a reply first.

Jill, I am not sure if it is replacing Mealbox or not. I hope not. I have unlimited texting on my phone. I have a 15 year old son. A-hem! I really wished they would just let you load the coupon like Kroger does. If you find out anything let me know. TIA!

I can’t seem to get this to work. Anyone else having problems activating an account? I can get to the part where it says a text will be sent but I never get the text. Could it be a regional thing or are all of the meijers participating?

Jennifer, the site might be overloaded. I did it late last night and it went through fine.

Thanks for sharing! Does anyone know if these are all Meijer store coupons? There are a few that I have manufacturer coupons for so I was wondering if I could use both towards the item.

Went today to Meijer Middletown and used my $5 off $5 coupon! Went to self checkout and there is a button at bottom of screen that you push to enter your phone number. Was confused at first b/c the button didnt give me the option at first, but after i scanned a few items it let me.

Yes these are all meijer store coupons, this was originally rolled out and tested with team members first, I used it when I worked there. I did notice that when I used mperks in conjunction with meijer mealbox it sometimes did not like it (it was for the same item), and you have to get exactly the item listed. Once it listed Grape pop-tarts and it would only work with the grape variety. Hope this helps the confusion!

Thanks, Jenna! I used my $5 off coupon today.

I used it yesterday and had no problem with it, took my coupon off fine! The cashier had no idea what I was talking about with mperks but it showed up on the touch pad. Thanks!

I used my MPerks $5 off today with my Meijer Mealbox coupons and it didn’t give me a problem. The cashier had to come over and approve my coupons at the end of my order (I was on the scan it yourself). I didn’t buy anything of the products that were on the MPerks so I don’t know how that will work with the Mealbox coupons.
