Learn To Be A Couponista!

by cindy on January 13, 2010

I posted this post a few months ago but I have had several comments and emails about not being able to print bricks coupons. I thought I should post it again in the Learning To Be A Couponista series. This is a little ahead of schedule but I wanted to go ahead answer the readers questions.

Lession 3 Trouble printing Bricks coupons:

Do you ever get frustrated when you try to print a coupon and it keeps telling you to install the coupon printer over and over again. You have already installed the printer but you go ahead and install it again. You go and try to print the coupon and it still tells you to install the coupon printer over and over again. By this time you want to through the computer out the window. It can be very frustrating when you just have to have that coupon $1/2 Kraft Cheese coupon an it just will not print. I have so many emails about this problem this week. I just had to write a post about it.

The issue is not your computer or you printer. It is the browser you are using. Some coupons are coded to print for different browsers. Fire Fox has a code, Internet Explorer has code, and Safari has its own code.

I have a trick I use to solve this problem. I change the code to work for the browser I am using. So, how do I do that you ask.

Here is how:

Look at the URL code to see if it works for the browser you are using. Here is example of what you are looking for.

Note: Look at the bold letters.

Example: http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=qj2tegb81263684&bt=wg&o=58953&c=KR&p=M2Iiymf4

The bold letters in the URL is a code for Firefox.

Here are the codes you will want to change the URL to depending on the browser you are using.

Internet Explorer: Change to wi or vi

Firefox: Change to wg or vg

Safari: Change to vi or xs

I can not guarantee that this will work every time but most of the time I do it, it works. You may also want to first copy the URL change the code and the paste it back into the address bar.

Thanks, Shannon and Melissa!

My coupons will print, but do not have watermarks in the background. It looks like I copied them. Sometimes the cashier won’t take them because of that…Anybody with a suggestion?

Are you printing them to light? I still have the marks and I print them in black and white.

I sometimes have problems printing coupons when using google chrome; if I print using Internet Explorer I’m OK.
