I posted how to make your own Microwave Popcorn when I first started blogging. I thought I would re post it because it is such cool idea and also frugal. LOL!
I quit buying microwave popcorn about 2 years ago (unless I can get it for free or really cheap) and started making my own.
Here is how I make it. You will need a brown paper lunch bag, a clip like the one in the photo, popcorn, and desired toppings.
- Put about 1/3 cup popcorn into paper bag.
- Close top of bag with clip (you do not need oil).
- Pop in microwave on regular popcorn setting ( when popping slows down remove).
- Top with salt and melted butter.
- Enjoy
Note: You can also use a Microwave Popcorn Popper Bowl. I just ordered one for $8 and I can not wait to recieve it.

Thank You, I remember my mom would put our popcorn in a brown paper bag and just fold it up a couple of times and pop away, and we would add butter flakes and parm. cheese, really good! Thanks for bringing back a good memory!!!
Mmmm…that sounds so good…I love popcorn!! I was having trouble finding those bag clips so I think I might have to buy that bowl.
Our family does do-it-yourself microwave popcorn, and we love it! I think if I bought regular microwave popcorn, my kids wouldn't know what it was!
LOL!!!
I feel so foolish
I never knew you could do it yourself….
Guess I will have to eat through my stockpile of the traditional stuff before trying the frugal way….
thanks for a great tip
I had no idea you could make your own microwave popcorn. I will have to give that a try. Thanks!
Christine,
I have bought the same type of bag clips from pampered chef and from ikea. You can get a bag of 30 at Ikea for $2.99.
