Freezer-Pleaser: Homemade Pizza Sauce

We make homemade pizza just about every Friday or Saturday night. So this week I decided to make-up some pizza sauce and freeze it. I have found that I can make my own much cheaper than buying the pre-made stuff in the jar. Instead of just making enough sauce for one or two pizza’s. It saves me so much time to make a big batch and divide it into containers to use later. Each container has enough sauce for two pizza’s.

I tripled the recipe and was able to divide it into 6 containers.

Total cost for Pizza sauce.

6 cans Tomato Sauce= $0 ( I got this free from a Walgreens sale and rebate last month.)
3 cans Tomato Paste=$.57 (Kroger sells Muir Glen tomato paste for $1.19. I used 3 $.75 coupons that were doubled to $1.) Coupons can be found in 2-8-09 SS expires 5-2-09.
Spices I already had on hand.
Total=$.57!

*The cost for me to make 2 pizza’s is usually under $5.

1. Make your own crust. I use the recipe that comes on the back of the yeast packet or you can buy pillsbury.

2. Top with sauce (I make my own use the recipe.)

3. Top it with your favorite toppings.

4. Bake at 425 until cheese is melted and crust is done the way you like it.
